Do you have a digital volt meter and a test light so we can do some testing?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No, I have an analog multitester. I can go get a test light.
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

A test light will work to see what is going on.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
i have a test light now
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

I am sorry for the delay, I had to work late. Is there a good time to get together with you so we can go over the tests?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
How about 6 pm CST today?
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

That sounds good to me. Chat with you then.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I'm ready to go
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

The first thing I need you to do is turn the ignition switch to the run position. Then connect the test light to a good ground and then with the fuses still in the fuses box, touch the tip of the test light to the metal piece sticking through the plastic on each and every fuse. Tell me what fuses only have power to one side and what fuses do not have any power at all please.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
lf park/tail and rt park/tail don't have power on either side, all the rest light up
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Now see if you have power to any of the wires at the brake switch p!ease.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
none of them have power
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

What size engine does your van have in it?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
3.8L, I put that in the original post
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Are you sure you did not have power to the gray wire with a red strip?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
i tried it yesterday with it connected and disconnected, with key on and off .
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

I am going to send you a diagram of your fuse box, please make sure that you have fuses in each location and that they are the correct amp fuses please. Then double check and see if you have power to both sides of fuse 26.

Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Here is the diagram.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
no #1, no #30, no IOD storage
#26 has power on both sides
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

What do you mean by NO#1 and 30?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
the fuses that are labeled 1 and 30
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Is there no spot for the fuse or is the fuse missing?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
the fuses are missing
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Can you put fuses in there locations please and then doube check fuse 26?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I put a fuse in #1 which is for fog lamps. I do not have a 40 amp for #30 which is some sort of washer. There is still power on both sides of #26
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Can you pull fuse 26 out and see if you have power on the connecters in the fuse box please?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
There is power on one connector. it is the one towards the rear of the car
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Can you put a new fuse in this spot and recheck it for power on both sides please?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I switched them, there is still power to both sides
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

So fuse 26 now has power to both sides?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
it always has
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Now check the and see if you have power to the brake light switch please.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
NO
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

I will need you to unbolt the fuse box so you can get to the back side of it and check the wires coming out of it please. I will post a diagram of the plugs on the bottom of it so you can see what wires I need you to test.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
OK, I am out of daylight so it will have to be tomorrow
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

I understand. I am sorry this is taking so long. I just wanted to double check everything before we go to the fuse box itself.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
does the red/gray wire at the brake switch come from the signal switch?
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

The gray wire with a red strip comes from fuse 26.

Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

The white wire with a tan strip goes to the third brake light.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
What fuse is that from?
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Fuse 26. The white with a tan wire goes to the brake lights.

Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

There has to be a break in the gray wire with a red strip from fuse 26 to the brake light switch.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
There is no other component in between the fuse and the switch?
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

When you tested the wires at the brake light switch, did you just check the connectors in the plug, or did you pierce the sheething and check the wires inside? If not can you check the gray wire with a red strip about 4 in, before the plug?

Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

No. The gray wire with a red strip comes directly from the fuse box tot he brake light switch.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I did not pierce the sheathing, but I checked the connectors from front and back
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Check the wire itself, I have seen the wire break right at the switch and you can not see te break as it is in the sheething.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I can try it in the morning
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

Let me know what you find.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
OK
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

I will post the back side of the fuse box for you tonight, as well as what wire needs to be tested.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
OK thanks
Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

You are very welcome.

Expert:  kalamykid replied 1 month ago.

You will want to check the wire in the orange plug and find the gray wire with a red strip. See if it has power at the back of the fuse box. It will be pin 4 in the orange plug.

Expert:  kalamykid replied 28 days ago.

Did you have a chance to check the plug on the back of the fuse box?

Customer: replied 26 days ago.
I had power at the orange plug, I had power about 10 inches away from the fuse box. I replaced the wire and now it works. I took power from one of the charger ports(the one direct from the battery) on the dash. Only now my radio has no power and my remotes don't work.
Expert:  kalamykid replied 26 days ago.

How did you take power from the charger ports? Did you cut the wire, or use a scotch lock connector?

Customer: replied 26 days ago.
I connected new wire to charger wire with a plastic connector without cutting or skinning the wire. It clamps onto it. Then I cut the original gray/red wire. I used the same connector at the brake light switch to connect the new wire to the section of gray/red wire that was left. Is this acceptable? I could not find a route from the cabin to the fuse box to run a new wire. I disconnected the battery to reboot the central timer module? to get the remotes working again. It still doesn't work. All fuses are good. I must have disturbed something when I was working with the fuse box. The gray/red wire was only for the brake light, correct?
Expert:  kalamykid replied 26 days ago.

Double check fuses 20 and 14 and make sure they have power to both sides with the ignition switch in the run position please.

Customer: replied 25 days ago.
fuse 14 is hot on both sides. Fuse 20 is a 30 amp fuse and is also hot on both sides
Expert:  kalamykid replied 25 days ago.

I need to look over the wire diagrams and see what I can find for you. Is there anything more that will not work at this point?

Customer: replied 25 days ago.
no, none of the functions work on either key Fob. and the radio
Expert:  kalamykid replied 25 days ago.

So the keyless entry and radio are the only things not working, correct?

Customer: replied 25 days ago.
what do you want me to do ?
Expert:  kalamykid replied 25 days ago.

I need to know if the keyless entry and radio are the only two things not working

Customer: replied 25 days ago.
correct they are the only things not working
Expert:  kalamykid replied 25 days ago.

Disconnect the wire you ran the the brake switch and see if they work please.

Customer: replied 25 days ago.
they disconnected the wire from the brake switch and it still the same the radio does not work and the key fob does not work
Expert:  kalamykid replied 25 days ago.

Disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for thirty minutes and then reconnect it and see if they come back to life.

Customer: replied 25 days ago.
I disconnected the positive terminal yesterday for a few minutes and hooked it back up and it didn't work
Customer: replied 25 days ago.
i'll try it for 30 minutes
Expert:  kalamykid replied 25 days ago.

ok

Customer: replied 25 days ago.
I reconnected the battery and there is no change
Expert:  kalamykid replied 25 days ago.

Where they working before you connected the new wire to the bake switch?

Customer: replied 25 days ago.
Customer: replied 25 days ago.
