It appears that the ambient air sensor has been torn off.

Customer Question

It appears that the ambient air sensor has been torn off. There are two bare wires there. Can this condition cause the poor idle condition I described earlier?

Hi Im David. im not aware of your earlier post, but give me a moment to look up some information for you. thanks

Customer: replied 9 months ago.

OK thanks. I will wait.

Expert:  david craig replied 9 months ago.

it wont cause idling issues on your vehicle. it will cause automatic climate control issues though. it is used to adjust and regulated cabin temps while using automatic climate control.

Expert:  david craig replied 9 months ago.

you probably should replace it anyways.

Customer: replied 9 months ago.

And for the poor idle?????

Expert:  david craig replied 9 months ago.

what do you mean by poor idle? surging? rough? stalling?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.

All the above. At 2000rpm it is smooth. It may have stored a code of o113, I erased it I think. When it goes to die something engages and the idle surges up. Sometimes it dies, inlet is not smooth and is rough.

Expert:  david craig replied 9 months ago.

if it was p0113 thats totally different form the ambient air temp sensor. p0113 is for the intake air temp sensor and would absolutely cause rough idle issues.

Expert:  david craig replied 9 months ago.

the ambient air sensor is located inside or near the front grill of the vehicle. the intake air temp sensor is located in the air intake near the mass airflow sensor

Customer: replied 9 months ago.

Where is the mass airflow sensor?

Expert:  david craig replied 9 months ago.

i will send you a diagram

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
