JA: How old is the transmission? Have you checked the fuel filters?
Customer: It's an 03 caravan and yes I have and they are fine
JA: Are you fixing your Caravan yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes and nothing yet
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I think that's all

Welcome to JustAnswer!; my name is Ed.

Disconnect the 2-wire field control connector at your alternator and repeat the same circumstances. Feedback from a bad alternator can induce a false speed signal in the transmission/ engine side of the electrical system, causing exactly the symptoms you've described. If successful, replace the alternator and you'll say wow.
