The suction line sweats,Cabin coola as long as relay bypassed
Dodge Mechanic: Kevin Bourcier,
 replied 5 years ago

but have you put a gauge set on the system to check the pressures ?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 5 years ago
reading the temp drop accross coil it looked good
Dodge Mechanic: Kevin Bourcier,
 replied 5 years ago

your truck has a transducer to sense pressures and even 3 or 4 ounces low on refrigerant can cause a " short cycle " problem .

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 5 years ago
Not sure what suction pressure was, charging by temp and watching for line to sweat
Dodge Mechanic: Kevin Bourcier,
 replied 5 years ago

No . You need to put a service " Gauge " set on the service ports and check the system pressures .

Did you completely recharge your system ?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question

No, adding freonCan u bypass the low pressure switchLike on old cars without all the computer crap

Ok, what should low side presdure bevat idle
Dodge Mechanic: Kevin Bourcier,
 replied 5 years ago

you can have a few different things causing your issue . What was the start of your troubles ?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 5 years ago
Just started short cycling
Dodge Mechanic: Kevin Bourcier,
 replied 5 years ago

if everything is working properly at a fast idle the low pressure should be between 15 and 30 PSI . High side should be at 160 to 225 PSI

how much R134A have you added ?

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 5 years ago
24 oz. Approx
Dodge Mechanic: Kevin Bourcier,
 replied 5 years ago

oh . that is a lot !

Had an autozone consumer gauge charge kit. When relay jumped it cooks, sweats in the middle if good rangeCools, not cooks. Sorry
Dodge Mechanic: Kevin Bourcier,
 replied 5 years ago

if your truck was completely empty and you needed to give it a full charge the complete amount of R134A for a fresh charge is 32 ounces

Gotcha. Is there a cabin duct temp sensorSorry, phone issues
Dodge Mechanic: Kevin Bourcier,
 replied 5 years ago

yes there is a evaporator temperature sensor also .

Ask Your Own Dodge Question
Customer reply replied 5 years ago
Acts like bad sensor
Dodge Mechanic: Kevin Bourcier,
 replied 5 years ago

you really need a true gauge set to figure out what is going on . the temperature sensor could be cycling to soon but also the high side pressure can be too high and the transducer is seeing the overpressure and shutting down the A/C compressor
