Customer Question

The key start became intermitant, then no start. Checked the switch wiring on the steering column, and couldn't find any hot wire. I jumped a wire friom the battery to it and activated the dash meters. Now, I don't know which wire on the ignition is supposed to be hot.
JA: Have you checked all the fuses? Do you have a wiring diagram?
Customer: The fuses in the fuse box are good. I don't have a diagram with color coded wires.
JA: What is the model/year of your Dodge?
Customer: 1979 3/4 ton pickup.
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I got stumped at the ignition, where I can't find a hot wire, and I don't know what color it is.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Where does the ignition hot wire originate, so that I can trace it.
