Customer Question

My esc light is staying on
JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: I have a 2013 ram 1500 and the esc light is on and the truck will not let me use cruse control
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I tried putting the truck in an out of 4x4 modes but no luck
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: The truck has 31000 miles and I've only had it three days

do you have a scan tool? still under warranty?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No scan tool. It should still be under warranty. Most of the Ram dealerships around here can not take a look at it till next week.

the proper way to test this is with a scan tool to access the anti lock brake controller to determine what fault codes are present, based on milage and year this truck is under warranty -- and with out a scan tool we do not have the ability to test -- this could be anything from a faulty wheel speed sensor to a bad wire to a faulty computer

I will see if the local autoparts store can scan for the code.

yea try that if ya get me the code i can help narrow down the cause...but its still safe to drive
