Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

I have to wonder if you're hearing fan clutch noise rather than a noise from the trans. It's normal for there to be much more air noise on startup and for the first thirty seconds or so when driving as the fluid in the fan clutch distributes.

Is it a roaring type noise from the engine compartment?
