I was driving 150 miles today and my engine light came

Customer Question

I was driving 150 miles today and my engine light came on....The code it gave me is P0700 Its a 2002 Dodge Ram with 149K miles
JA: Has your vehicled stalled? Has anyone run a diagnostic test to pull the trouble code?
Customer: it didn't stall but it did have a mushy start at a light. then pretty much drove normal after that
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I only pulled the code and was wondering what I would do with that. P0700
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: yes

Hi, welcome to Just Answer. I'm Ron and I will be helping you today.

That code is for transmission control malfunction which can be many things.

First check the fluid level and color, then attache the scan tool to check the shift solenoids. After that we need to drop the pan and do an inspection of the valve body and clutches and also check for metal shavings in the pan.

Thanks, Ron
