2001 Dodge 2500 Ram 5.9 Diesel 4x4 a.t. ps. a/c. Engine

Customer Question

2001 Dodge 2500 Ram 5.9 Diesel 4x4 a.t. ps. a/c. Engine surges at any speed above 1,000 rpm's when warm. Surges bad and no power, can not go up any type of incline. Renewed fuel filter. Has 2 codes PO 237 and P 1689. Replaced MAP sensor and cleared codes. No change, codes have not reappeared, but can not drive it far enough to reset possibly. Engine will also surge when just sitting and engine is raced up, no codes, lot's of white smoke from exhaust when engine starts surging. Really need help on this. Should I renew the fuel pump just to see if that is the problem?

Good evening.....My name is ***** ***** i can help you with issue. p1689 fault code is No Communication Between ECM & Injection Pump Module . Basically speaking the injection pump controller has is built into the injection pump. The injection pump will need to be replaced. I also suggest replacing the transfer pump if it has not been done already, to be sure you have proper fuel volume to the new injection pump....Ric
