Cant seem to get the air out of my cooling system on 1996

Customer Question

cant seem to get the air out of my cooling system on 1996 dodge cummings 5.9
JA: Has the car been overheating? Have you noticed any leaks?
Customer: yes. I changed the thermostat. Now my radiator boils and overflows
JA: What is the model of your '96 Dodge?
Customer: 3500
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes. I refilled the radiator, left the cap open, turned the heat on with the fan off, started it up and it keeps boiling out of the radiator
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: It was starting rough for a couple times, blew a little blueish white smoke, then ran fine. It then overheated, so I changed the thermostat..It is a 5.9 with only 184,000 miles on it

Hello, my name is***** you keep getting air in coolant no matter how much you bleed it that would point toward a head gasket problem. Next step is to have a cooling system pressure test done and block test which will tell you if headgaskets are bad, the block test is more accurate. Here is a link to the kit so you can buy and test yourself. Let me know if you have more questions, thanks.
