I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.7. my wife was driving

Customer Question

I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.7. my wife was driving it and it died not far from the house. It did not seem to be getting fuel pressure. Changed the fuel pump and it started. I drove it around and it seemed to run fine but with a check engine light. Got a p0113 code probably from having the air box off and trying to start it. Once I cleared the code it no longer starts.
JA: How many miles are on the car? Have you had the fuel pressure tested recently?
Customer: 160,000. I do not have a pressure gauge but the first time it happened I pressed the Schrader valve and air came out, after it ran and then again wouldn't start it had a solid fuel spray and after that it seems to just be a light poof of air. I can get a gauge but don't have one now
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes I was. I have tried the fuel pump and putting a little gas down the throttle body.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: The computer was replaced 2 months ago for a throttle issue
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Dodge Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

Hi, I’m Ron and I’ll be helping you today.

Before we get started though,Please understand that I don't know your skill level or tools you have to assist us. Also understand that I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the vehicle either, so patience is appreciated.

My goal is to make you happy and get a great rating in return for my time.Sometimes I have to give you bad news that I know you didn’t want to hear, so please don’t shoot the messenger.

You need to test the fuel pressure, you can borrow a gauge for a deposit at the parts store and they will tell you how to attach it and the pressure spec as well. It does sound like you lost the pump again.

Thanks, Ron
