Dodge Dakota Sport auto, 4 wheel on demand: , I'm Chip. Came

Customer Question

Hi, I'm Chip. Came back to NH from FL, went to start my 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport 3.9L v6, turned over but wouldn't start (starting fluid didn't do it either). Now have the rapid clicking you asked about in another answer, but no crank anymore. Que pasa ?

Hi, my name is ***** ***** rapid clicking is caused by low voltage, have tried charging the battery, or jump starting it with another vehicle?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
to both, but I was going to get a new battery. Should have done before contacting Ask. Thanks Tim. I'll be back.

Let me know,Tim

Hi Tim. Fresh battery gets starter going again, but still no ignition, even with starter fluid. Checked the Bosch Platinum +4 plugs but as expected look fine. I'd suspect fuel flow problem but starter fluid should have kicked it over ? I've checked all little fuses, look ok. Next ?

Have you checked for spark at the spark plugs, when cranking?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hi Tim, I apologize for being so slow in responding. Took what I thought would be easiest route; replaced Cap & Rotor, still no start, then plug wires & finally put a new coil in place of old one. Left truck in Fall with Stabile in full tank, which I ran for awhile before parking. Sell it to a junk yard ? Chip

PS: now have a cyclical thud noise when cranking. Believe I have new plug wires on Cap correctly.
