Here are some wiring diagrams. You will have to look for the data link connector on each diagram as they are different. Once you find the DLC, then look close as they will show you the color of the wires and what pins they go in at the DLC connector.

the first diagram help some, but it only shows 4 wires going to the data link connector, one color of which I don't have and that is the violet/brown. Date of manufacture on truck label is 10/98
Dodge Mechanic: Amedee, Dodge Technician replied 1 year ago
Can you upload a detailed pic of all of the wires?

The white/purple or white/violette should only be for a diesel vehicle. It goes to pin 14. Here is a wiring diagram.

Customer reply replied 1 year ago
OK, non diesel
Dodge Mechanic: Amedee, Dodge Technician replied 1 year ago
Then dont worry about that wire..

Dodge Mechanic: Amedee, Dodge Technician replied 1 year ago
However, if you have that wire, you can always hook it up to pin 14

Thanks, ***** ***** it another shot. However, we have accounted for 7 wires, still one left or is it another wire for a diesel?
Dodge Mechanic: Amedee, Dodge Technician replied 1 year ago
I would hook it up according to the way the last diagram is that I sent over. This is how it should be according to the VIN you provided me with.

Hello. I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 15 4 door 2WD V8 Pickup that has an engine light on that keeps giving me different code readings. I have almost 198000 miles on the vehicle which drives like a champ. It has a Lifetime power-train warranty on it and I just had it inspected for its every 5 year required inspection on December 23rd. Here is the issue. Last year the engine light came on in December of 2017. The code said that I need a new ERG valve. Right before inspection the light went off. I got inspected and the tech said that the engine light came on, but it was the gas cap. He did the test again and the gas cap passed. I got my inspection approved without the ERG violation. This year I am trying to get my truck inspected, but the check engine light is still on since January of last year. I had the codes defined and the feedback read out came out to be a faulty idle sensor. I do not have have any issues with the idle acceleration sensor at this time. Four years ago I did have an issue with this sensor, but the check engine light never came on. I reached out to you guys, followed your advise and no issues with the truck jerking after replacing the sensor. How can I find out the true problem(s) and fix them? I must get my state inspection before I get pulled over. Thank you in advance. … read more
