Customer Question

1990 dodge ramcharger p/u with 318....within a week loss of power then sounded like collapsed muffler and choking out. Plugs get wet fast. Have strong yellow spark but may have plug too far from ground checking alone. CLEANED EGR valve, it was clogged. Drilled hole before and after catalytic..get pressure. Without starting blows out rag I stuffed in tailpipe. Had bad cap and rotor...I replaced. I checke d TDC with piston and rotor seems off a few degrees...tough to tell. Cap (distributor) had elongated electrodes of carbon I guess. Perhaps spark off ? Getting plenty of fuel. Don't have vacuum tester. Now won't start.

Hi, I’m Ron and I can help you.
I have been in this business since 1975 and also teach automotive repair. I am confident we can resolve your problem together. Please understand that I don't know your skill level. I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the vehicle either, so it may take a few replies to get to satisfactory results. Please be patient!
I also try to give all of the information you may need, expecting a “positive rating” in return. I will also continue assisting you after you have rated me, if necessary. If there is any reason I cannot get a positive rating, please let me know why “in advance”, so I can go another direction for you. I am sorry you’re having this problem; I’ll help you through it.

Spark needs to be BLUE. Do a compression test too and check for too much fuel being used from a bad MAP sensor. This should be scanned for codes and data.

Thanks, Ron
