95 neon I removed the kickdown linkage and the shifter

Customer Question

95 neon I removed the kickdown linkage and the shifter linkage at the transmission to clean the kickdown because it wouldn't shift out of second gear until you let off the gas. I put it back together and now it wont go into gear, shifter moves fine in the car, I disconnected the linkage and manually shifted it with a pair of channel locks and it would go into gear sometimes and sometimes it wouldn't. Did that shaft come out of something in the transmission that the linkage attaches to or what the heck happened?

good morning my name is ***** ***** I will assist

did you verify that the cable is moving the linkage after you hooked it up???

nothing you did will prevent it from going into gear unless the shifter cable has failed.

make sure the fluid level is correct and not burned.
