Customer Question

I have a 1996 Dodge Dakota....Transmission is acting up and I get PO740 and P1763 error codes. Just wondering what exactly to look for or what these might mean.
Thank You, Brian

Good afternoon and welcome to JustAnswer!!!

The codes you have are:

P1740-Torque converter clutch, no RPM drop @ lockup

P1763-Governor Pressure volts too high.

Based on my experience with these codes you would need a torque converter and a new governor pressure transducer and solenoid.. If nothing else I would drop the pan and replace the governor pressure solenoid and transducer which would clear up any shifting issues if you had any.

Let me know,
