I have installed a new pinion gear on my 2010 dodge 2wd,

Hi Steve, I have installed a new pinion gear on my 2010 dodge 2wd, have torqued to 250 ft lbs, have only been able to get 9 inch lbs. preload, reading have remained at 9 inch lbs. even though I had that reading at 230 ft lbs, note, I did lub the bearing, also I have the same rear ended as 2009

Are you tightning the pinion at this point? If so then you will need along pull handle to start crushing the crush sleeve and then get the pinion to 35 in/lbs turning torque..

I have tightened the pinion nut to 250ft/lbs, can only get 9 inch/lbs preload ,, should I keep tightening, I don't want to strip the threads, I lubed the pinion bearing , was that ok to do?
