afternoon. The most likely causes for the anti-theft "red light" comes on is a bad ignition key or the "SKIM" module that reads the keys. The key has a special chip inside thats programmed to the vehicle. The SKIM module reads the key and determines if the key is valid and if the vehicle should be allowed to start or not. When the red light comes on....it means possible key issue or problem with the SKIM. At this point the system needs to be checked for codes and that requires a scanner that can access all the modules on the vehicle....not just the engine or abs like some cheaper code readers. The code will let us know if the key is the problem or the module. In the mean time.....if you have a second key, try using it for awhile and see if any change. If all is well over time then you know it was possibly the key.
