I am starting to get a low hum its getting louder...when applyING the brake and steering when at a stoplight and coming off the line. Once I start driving it's fine.

I'm assuming this is a diesel. If you're getting a hum when applying the brakes and turning the steering wheel then most likely you're hearing the power steering pump. It could be a brake booster or steering gear issue but it's more likely to be the pump itself or low fluid.
Have you checked the power steering fluid level?
