Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!
There are quite a few things that can cause the engine to die. It could be fuel related or electrical. The engine will continue to run if the cam or crank signal is lost but for instance if the sensor ground or reference voltage circuits short it can kill the engine. If the problem only happens at idle and it dies along with an idle fluctuation then the fuel control actuator is likely. the most likely cause for dying would be a failing transfer pump.
The first step in diagnosing the problem will be to check for fault codes. If a P0628 is found then the transfer pump will need to be replaced.
