Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!
There are many things that will cause the engine to lose throttle response so there may be more than one problem going ion. An injector pump module failure or MAP sensor signal issue will also cause the engine to return to idle.
What you'll need to do is make sure the previous codes are cleared and see what codes return. If it's still setting an APPS code with a new sensor then either the replacement sensor is the issue or there is a iring issue. Depending on what code is setting it could be a short to power or ground or an open circuit on any of the APPS circuits. Electrical testing would need to be done at the time the problem is happening to determine what is wrong.
