Hello and welcome to JustAnswer, My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be assisting you

Brad :

Is your check engine light on?

Brad :

Did it shut-off, or just would not start one day?

Customer:

it just shut while driving no engine lite

Brad :

Ok, when you try and start it...Does it sound different than it usually does when you start it?

Brad :

Just off, im thinking timing belt...But I need to verify that... Do you have a 8mm wrench?

Customer:

no

Brad :

And does it sound like it always has when you try and start it?

Customer:

no

Brad :

Ok, can you look at the black plastic timing belt cover and pry it back a little to see if belt turns?

Customer:

yes sounds the same

Customer:

ok how much does it coast to have repaired

Brad :

If it is the timing belt.. At a dealership it ill run 850.00 for parts and labor

Brad :

But a Independant shop will be less

Brad :

And thats a new belt and waterpump

Customer:

if it is the timing belt thats bad will it not turn when the engine is being turned over

Brad :

Correct, if timing belt is broke...It will not turn when you start engine... If you had a 8mm to remove the Cam sensor on the side of head Drivers side.. You can look and see if cam is moving.. If you start it and cam stays still... Belt is 100% broke

Customer:

ok i can buy an 8mm where at on the head driver side will i find the cam sensor located

Brad :

There is a pic... Its a square sensor

Brad :

Kind of hard to get to..... But you may can pry back the plastic shield around timing belt to inspect it

Customer:

thx for your help

Brad :

You are welcome.. Have I answered all of your questions?

Customer:

yes ill try what u suggested

Brad :
