Customer Question

2002 ram 1500 small V8 error codes
p1794 "speed sensor ground"
p1790 "fault immediately after shift"
p0500 "speed sensor malfunction"
p0700 "auto transmission control system malfunction"

What does all this mean and approx. how much to fix it? I've been told that all errors could be caused by the speed sensor, speedometer has not worked for severl months.

Welcome to Just Answer Dodge my name is Mark. Please, realize that all my answers are based solely on the info you provide me......

The speed sensor is mounted on top of the rear differential and these are very common failure items.

This sensor is used for the abs system as well as the trans, so when it stops working it will cause multiple warning lights to turn on.

I would suggest replacing this sensor and then have the codes erased and then see how everything works.

I hope this information is helpful and let me know if you need further assistance with this.
