Cummins diesel..hard starting,like not getting fuel changed lift pump

Resolved Question:

2006 cummins diesel. hard starting,like not getting fuel changed lift pump in tank today.Not any better. when running low on power, and "knocks" like its -20 degrees outside. Problem came on all of a sudden. Truck ran fine to go to work, left to come home and started hard,and lacked power.

Welcome to just I'm here to help you and your 100% satisfaction is my goal. Checked to be sure you have a good fluid flow coming from the transfer pump to the injector pump but from your description it sounds like you have a faulty injection pump

when truck was running opened drain cock on fuel filter on fuel came out like crazy.

Check the operation of the lift pump first, it should put out about 400 ml in 10 seconds. A vacuum draw test should also be done, the pump should pull less than 6 inches of vacuum. Check the operation of the Pressure Limiting Valve through scan tool data. Engine Control Module monitors operation from fuel rail pressure sensor data to indicate if the valve is sticking open. Check for fuel system leaks.
