97 dakota: installed new orifice and accumulator..reassembly…

Customer Question
have 97 dakota with plugged...
have 97 dakota with plugged orifice. installed new orifice and accumulator after flushing evaporator, condenser and all lines. everything was thoroughly cleaned blowed out and then I used an a/c flushing fluid as a last step before reassembly. installed 1 ounce of oil in evaporator, 2 ounces in condenser and 4 ounces's in accumulator as instructed in Haynes a/c manual. Evacuated system down to 29-30 for 2 hours left over nite to check for leaks. no leaks. re charged this morning . installed 20-22 ounce's or freon . no cool air and line frosts up between condenser and evaporator. on this unit [97] the orifice tube is installed on front side of condenser. I just checked my guage pressures after resting the system for 2 hours and they have'nt equalized. low is 110 but was 130 when I was charging the system. high side was 100 after resting and was'nt much higher during charging. I know the factory charged as noted on plate 2 lbs. but I did'nt think it advisable to continue with my guage numbers like this. thanks for this service.

Mark :

What are your pressures when the compressor is engaged? Also what is your local outside air temp?

Customer:

low side 130----high side 145-150. outside temp 90 degrees

Mark :

Low side is 130 with compressor engaged?? Sounds like you are way overcharged or have an excessive amount of oil in the system. I suggest you evacuate and re-charge the system again..
