1996 Dodge Dakota: 000 miles..rev..neutral..wires, cap, and rotor…

Customer Question
I have a 1996 Dodge...
I have a 1996 Dodge Dakota extended cab 4x4 with a 3.9, 170,000 miles, truck spit and sputtered, rev up in neutral and straightens out sometimes. keep gettin code PO351, I replaced plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. did not help other than stop the sputter, then it left me sit just like I turned the key off. it would crank, not start. so I relpaced the coil, started right up, drove 1 mile and let me sit, drifted back home, crank no spark at the coil, put old coil on started right up. same code. Did it again replace the crank sensor, started drove one day around 20 miles then did the same thing, but it starts right back up, same code, does anyone have any Ideas before I replace the ECM? Thanks
The code (0351)I posted says "coil A primary/secondary malfunction"
sorry first time I transposed the numbers, just checked to be sure

Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is Denny; now let me see if I can help you with Dodge question.are you sure that is the code you get? It comes up ''bank 2 upstream sensor slow to respond''

Your 3.9 should only have 1 up stream and 1 downstream. Please check.

my scan tool says "coil A primary/seondary malfunction"

P0351 Ignition Coil # XXXXX Primary Circ

Primary circuit means the wires to the coil before the spark

You should now look at the wires from the PCM, to the coil, then back to the PCM. It could be a PCM, but I would check those wires first, before throwing a PCM at it.

What Customers are Saying:

I AM VERY GLAD THAT I TOOK A CHANCE ON YOUR PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS. I WAS SUCCESSFUL IN REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP. MY TRUCK RUNS LIKE A CLOCK. IT RUNS LIKE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. NO LUNGING FORWARD, THE TURBO REACTS THE SECOND I STOMP ON THE GAS, AND IT HAS A LOT MORE POWER AND EVEN SOUNDS BETTER TO ME. IT SAVED ABOUT $500.00 BY DOING THE WORK MYSELF. I GIVE YOU ALL THE CREDIT FOR YOUR DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, JUST FROM THE SYMPTONS I GAVE YOU OVER THE e MAIL. I WILL USE YOUR WEB SITE AGAIN AND REFER MY FRIENDS. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP.
