Hello which axle shaft are you replacing? Left or right ?

Driver's side
ok what you will want to do is remove the following caliper, axle shaft nut, upper balljoint nut and separate the upper balljoint from the knuckle. make sure you support the truck with a jack under the lower control arm before to separate the upper balljoint. you will also have to disconnect the electrical connector and wire for the speed sensor if equipped then pull the axle out of the hub and bearing, the take a prybar and pry the other end of the axle out of the differential.

Do you need to take the ball joints loose or can you pull it through the steering knuckle?
i usually unbolt and separate the upper balljoint from the knuckle that should allow the knuckle to swing down enough to get it out. however you can also unbolt and remove the hub and bearing and remove the axle through the knuckle that way also.
