i have a 1995 dodge ram 1500 4x4 and my headlights will not come parking lights will come on but no low beams....when i pull the dimmer switch on the column, the brights will work as long as i hold it forward..when i let go the lights go off... what is the problem,, is it the light switch on the dash or the dimmer switch on the column
do you have daytime running lights?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

ok, can you check fuse # XXXXX at the fuse box inside the truck and see if is blown.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

ok when you say daytime running lights... do you mean headlights or turn/side lights? because everything works except the low beam headlights....high beam will only work as i pull and hold the dimmer switch......

yes the #15 fuse was blown...i have replaced it and still no low beams when i pull the headlight knob on the dash..

ok, if no lights again is possibly because the fuse has blown again and if it is so then the head light switch is at fault, can you check the fuse again. and what i referred as to daytime running lights is when you turn the truck to run do the head lights turn on also?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

i thought you were talking about the, this truck doesnt have them on this model...and i tried the lights several times and the fuse is still good....

ok but the fuse was burnt out before right ?ok do you have a test light?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
no test light and yes was blown to start do i remove the bezel around the colunm..has one screw that i took out in the center , but there is two more holes that still have it attached together. but there is no screws in the holes...when i look in the holes i see something like medal pins...
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
i got the bezel off...
is the head light switch mounted to the steering or the dash area, and have you check the head light bulbs if they are burnt , before you go for the head light switch, i have seen the two head light bulbs burnt out before so lest check them before anything else ok
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

headlight switch is on the dash and the bulbs are good

ok, then you will need to remove the head light switch and replace are you in the proses of doing that know?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
i have replaced it, and they work.... thank you for your time and help
no problem thank you for your accept and merry christmas
