Does the clunk sound come from the dash area?

yes

This sounds like you have a blend door that is sticking.you will have to remove the heater housing to repair this door.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
found blend door to be working fine, not sticking...start truck, blows cold...give a little gas, and blows warm...shut truck off, start back up...blows cold until you give a little gas, then blows warm..Does not matter if it's on defrost or floor, or vent.

How did you check the blend door operation?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
I watched the electric motor turn the door. There is no longer a clunk, but still same problem with heat. No heat unless slight acceleration to gas, warm air then blows through, stays like that until blower is shut off, or motor is shut off. Then same problem all over again. Customer wants to be able to warm up inside of truck, before taking off in the morning, but heat won't come unless gas is pushed....
