2002 dodge ram 1500: the alternator..start looking

I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500. Just replaced the alternator but still getting P1682 code? Where do I start looking?

most likely the voltage regulator in the computer has gone bad.if you check and make sure you have power going to the big wire on the alternator and you do you will need to replace the computer the regulator is built into it and it tells the alternator when and how much to charge.
