Customer Question

my HVAC blend doors will not reset. last year i put in a stereo and had to have the dealer reset the blend doors. after he told me that it needs a BCM. he then rechecked it and said all was good just a door reset. I put in a new battery and now the doors are off again. IE no heat..I try to reset the doors and get a code 23..i was told by 2 different dealers 2 seperate things. one said control head the other said BCM and or blend door motor. it worked fine until the battery change.. thoughts?

Hi. What kind of vehicle do you have? (If you have already entered this, disregard this. Sometimes the vehicle information does not come through with the question at first)
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
it is a 200 dode manufact date 3/00. i have reset the doors several times using the method suggested and i get a code 23..this is a manual control head not digital. i find it hard to believe i have a bad BCM. when it worked fine until the battery change. even the control head to try is 200.00..

What method are you using to reset it, pulling the M1 circuit fuse from the panel?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.

pulling fuse # XXXXX the one that is for the body computer. i also tried turning fan on, control to cold, doors to defrost and holding down the rear window defogger button until the AC button begins to blink. the ODometer goes to 00 and after a few min it displays a 23..

Ok. The fuse you need to pull is actually 19, its a 10 amp. Pull this fuse for 10 minutes, and then start it up and let the control head go through its calibration without shutting the car off. If you still don't have heat you may need a bcm, a blend door actuator, orr the blend door itself may be broken inside the heater box. Any of these things are not unheard of. I have replaced a couple bcms for this problem in the past, but the actuator or broken door would be more likely.
