GEN warning light mean on a 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 5.9 Turbo Diesel

This answer was rated:

What does the "GEN" warning light mean on a 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 5.9 Turbo Diesel

The GEN light comes on to indicate the charging system is not operating correctly. When this happens, the battery is not being recharged as you drive; eventually this will cause teh engine to stall and not restart if it is not corrected.

Possible causes include a failing alternator or a poor electrical connection somewhere in the charging system.

Any repair shop can quickly test your alternator to see if it is charging correctly; many auto parts stores can do this (often for free) also.
