This is usually an indication of something wrong in the card slot of the camera. Try removing the memory card from your camera and powering it on with no memory card installed and then press the playback button.

Ok. Thanks for the info. So that narrows down the issue to the memory card being installed in the camera. To further narrow down the issue, you will need to transfer all the images off of your card to your computer. Once you have backed up all the images on your card to your computer, then access the camera menus, then the setup tab, and select format from the options in the setup tab. Once you have the card formatted in camera, then try putting the camera back into a shooting mode and take a couple of test shots and try to view them on the playback screen.
What we are doing here is eliminating the possibility that there's missing or corrupt file tree information on the card.
