Dermatology Questions? Ask an Online Dermatologist.
Hi there.Thank you for your question.I am Dr. SH and will be helping you out with your concerns today.
Can you please mention your age and gender?
Have you been seen for this?
Do you have neck pain or arthritis or any other medical problems?
Are you on any medications for anything?
Please let me know.
Do you have a skin rash on the part of the skin that is burning?
Burning on the outside of the arm like you mention, can be a symptom of a trapped nerve in the neck causing a sensation of burning. So I think that the burning could be nerve related.
However, I would like that you should keep an eye on it for a week or two.
If your symptoms persist beyond that period of time I would recommend that you should have a MRI of the neck to rule out a pinched nerve.
This session is open for any further questions that you may have. I would appreciate it if you rate me by clicking on one of the rating options at your end on the top right hand corner as that is the only way we, the experts, are credited on here for helping you out.Kindest regards
Irritation or burning is typical of nerve related problems.
So I think it could just be that.
Which part of the body did you have shingles in?
Bead like spots is not something to worry about as this indicates fat under the skin.
I think this is not related to the burning.
I, think however, that the shingles that you had previously could be the cause of burning.
If severe, treatment of this sensation is with nerve pain medications like pregabalin.
You are most welcome.
