Customer Question

My boyfriend is having really bad acne he has had it for as long as 2 years non stop acne, the white heads and black heads that get huge. We have tried everything with cleansers and moisturizers anything you can think of we have tried he even tried taking vitamin D pills and those calmed it down but didn't remove it. He went to a doctor a week ago and got a prescription of minocycline, he wants to try accutane but with all the side affects that makes me nervous. Is there anything else that will take away his acne?

There are a range of acne treatments that may be tried ...

Accutane is a treatment but not usually any of the first tried to sue to its potential side effects.

Epiduo is a good product -- has he tried that ?

Doxycycline is similar to minocycline but usually cheaper ....

Other antibiotics may be tried ...

Tazorac is helpful -- has he tried that ?

A regimen of washing face with a gentle scrub or extolling twice a day would usually be of help....

Clindagel is a good topical antibiotic for it ...

Follow up with his dermatologist I would recommend at 6 week intervals to help fine tune his treatment

Accutane is potential but there are so many other less risky trrwatments I think he is best to try a number of regimens FIRST

I hope this is helpful for you

Will vitamin A do anything for his acne? He wants to try that as well as the minocycline. Will it give him any bad reaction or cancel each other out?

Hello again ,

Many products are based on vitamin A ...

He may take supplemental vitamin A ...

He may benefit to take supplemental zinc ...

The minocycline should help ...

Many OTC skin scrub type products if he wants to try one of these ...

Again gentle but frequent exfoliation would help

I hope that this is helpful for you
