Hello,I am Dr. Aren and I will help with your query.Penile dark spots or melanosis are commonly seen, they may be dark brown to black well defined spots and are usually harmless.Ocassionally they may have irregular border and may change colour but one does not have to worry if you are below 50 years of age,do not have a family history or personal history of melanomas.Moles are also quite common on the penis, they may be flat or slightly elevated in shape and may be brown or black.Another harmless cause would be Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) which may occur following injury,folliculitis/pimples and minor irritations. These will appear as black or brown spots and fade away gradually.Other harm less presentations will include Genital Warts,AngioKeratomas ,sebhorriec keratosis, fixed drug eruptions and Lichen planus.Any lesion which changes size or appears suddenly should be viewed with suspicion. You may need to see your PCP?Dermatologist if any change occurs.Penile Melanoma and penile Kaposi Sarcoma are rare but do occur.
