Dermadoc :

ok no problem.

Dermadoc :

in order to let me help you better , it will be very helpful if you could answer a few questions regarding your condition.

i would like to know:-

Dermadoc :

1. what is the rash composed of- flat areas or raised bumps?

Dermadoc :

2. since how long do you have it?

Dermadoc :

3. is it only on the arms?

Dermadoc :

4. if there are bumps, are they in clusters or spaced out?

Customer:

raised itchy bumps all over my arms only,I have had it for a week now in clusters mainly on the inside of my arms.

Dermadoc :

thanks for this valuable information.

Dermadoc :

this sounds like you may be having miliaria.

Customer:

what is that

Dermadoc :

miliaria rubra is a heat rash

Dermadoc :

does your rash look like that?

Dermadoc :

or is it much bigger than that?

Dermadoc :

the second possible diagnosis is folliculitis

Dermadoc :

is this how it looks?

Customer:

what is that

Dermadoc :

the picture i have sent is of miliaria or heat rash.

Dermadoc :

folliculitis is a bacterial infection that can happen as red raised bumps in clusters.

Dermadoc :

the treatment for each will differ.

Customer:

what is a bacterial infection caused from

Dermadoc :

its a superficial bacterial infection limited to the skin and is caused by a bacteria called staphylococcus and is seen secondary to use of razors for shaving the body hair or also after waxing.

Dermadoc :

the treatment for folliculitis will be application of neosporin cream twice a day for a week.

Dermadoc :

neosporin cream is available over the counter.

Customer:

could it be anything worse than that

Dermadoc :

from your description, it seems to be this.

Dermadoc :

nothing worse.

Dermadoc :

i will recommend that you try out this treatment and see if it helps.

Dermadoc :

for the itching, tab. claritin 10 mg once daily at night, will be helpful.

Dermadoc :

its also available over the counter.

Customer:

is there any way that it could be scabies

Dermadoc :

scabies is not restricted to the arms only

Dermadoc :

it usually involves the whole body.

Dermadoc :

unless you have a pet, animal scabies can be on the areas where you hold the pet if the pet has scabies.

Dermadoc :

there is increased itching at night.

Customer:

how long does this rash usually last

Dermadoc :

you mean the scabies rash?

Dermadoc :

till the scabies is treated, it will last.

Dermadoc :

if you are talking about foliculitis, with treatment, it will subside in a week.

Customer:

no I'm sorry I mean the bacterial infection, but I don't shave my arms

Dermadoc :

shaving is not the only reason why it can occur, thats the most common cause, however it can happen otherwise too if there are conditions of heat and humidity.

Dermadoc :

its not a serious thing and can be treated easily.

Customer:
