It is worth excluding scabies and asteatotic dermatitits.Topical permethrin cream and moistursers will help.If still present may be due to stress and may require psychologists help.

could it be a parisite under the skin or in the blood? I have not been out of the country but do trapp wild animals in the fall.

The chances are less likely.Scabies can also be acquired from animals.

My skin is smooth and have no rash.What else do you think it could be. I am not under any stress. It doesn't happen all the time but in different places on my body. Thank you

the other causes are xerosis or dryness induced itching and urticaria which is a transient and recurrent condition.
