VerifiedHi, I am Dr. Carrie, a board certified MD. Usually these types of lesions are blackheads (open comedos- acne). The ear is a very common place for these. If it is not red/swollen/ tender, and since it has not changed in a month or so, you can either leave it alone (and it should self-resolve, but may take a few more months), or wash the area gently with acne-type cleanser (active ingredient benzoyl peroxide). Then I would recommend using a benzoyl peroxide spot acne treatment. These are available over the counter at up to 10% benzoyl peroxide. If this doesn't sound right based on the dot you see, please let me know, but these are very common on the ear. Best of luck, and thank you for your question.
Sorry that took so long; I researched and did not find any evidence that grey color is more risky than brown. It does seem that most or all non worrisome moles on any given person tend to be the same or similar color. So if someone has dozens of brown moles, and one that is a distinctly different color, theoretically that one would warrant closer monitoring. I think it is great you are so on top of things, and getting regular skin cancer screens, annual physicals, etc. Would be worth mentioning to the GP, from my point of view, but I would be surprised if he/she were concerned about it.
