Have a question about a possible root canal. Went into the
Have a question about a possible root canal. Went into the dentist yesterday for an emergency visit due to pain after eating in the lower left first molar (#18)... diagnosis was that the filling has come loose. The dentist replaced the filling, and in the process filed down tooth #14 (upper left first molar) to correct the bite so that there is sufficient material remaining in the replacement filling on #18. X rays were taken, and the diagnosis was the old filling on #14 had also come loose, but it was too close to the nerve to replace, and I would need a root canal. Should I get a second opinion on this? I'd like to see if the #14 filling can be replaced instead of a root canal. … read more
