When is the last time that you had a dental check up? Is there any swelling or could you submit a picture of the area so I could review? What have you been taking for pain, and how long has it been painful?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Been uncomfortable for a few days. A little pain to touch on the outside. It has been a few years since my last check up. I take Motrin a couple times a day.

What are you looking for in regards ***** ***** on this tooth?

Is it something that I need to wait out or see a dentist for?

You will need to see a dentist for an exam and xray of the area. Since the tooth is hurting on the outside of the tooth it could be a number of different things, deep cavity, irreversible pulpitis, periodontal infection, etc. If pressing or touching that area replicates the pain, it is extremely likely that the tooth needs dentist/professional diagnosis and treatment.
