I am on 325mg aspirin therapy and I am having a root canal

Customer Question

I am on 325mg aspirin therapy and I am having a root canal done on 11/23. should I stop taking aspirin?
JA: Have you seen a dentist about this yet?
Customer: Yes and he is sending me to a endodontic to have root canal he said he didn't see why I should stop taking it, but i'm a little worried about continuing it.
JA: Please give me a bit more information, so the dentist can help you best.
Customer: I've been on an aspirin regime for about 5 years doe to small blockage, but have been told to stop taking it before minor surgical procedures. I just don't know how involved a root canal is.

No there should be no reason to stop the aspirin therapy because a regular root canal would be considered non-surgical treatment. There are more advanced procedures with endodontic specialists where they may indicate a medication modulation but not for a traditional root canal. Does that help ease your concern?
