Customer Question

Today I became aware of a swelling under my tongue. Sore when manipulated by the tongue. Possibly swelling of the submandibular duct?

It could be. If so, it would likely be very sensitive in that area.

The best news is generally speaking, this condition clears up often given a week or so of time, and without intervention or any type of invasive procedure/s.

So, hang in there, if it gets worse, as opposed to better, I'd get in to see your Family General Dentist for a better & up close view. But likely, it will come & go in a short amount of time.

I wish you all the best!

*PS: If needed, Ibuprofen or Tylenol tend to work quite well for any discomfort.

I'll check back with you in the morning, and see if you have any further questions/concerns, etc. - OK?
