I have an old root canal and crown that hot infected, am told it cannot be saved and must be extracted. Is this accurate?

It will depend on the amount of bone remaining around the tooth,the xray appearance and whether there is enough tooth structure to restore.Do you have a copy of the xray of this tooth to upload? It would be difficult to give you an accurate answer without seeing the xray.Is the tooth loose,? Is there any swelling around the tooth?
