How do you leave the packing for a dry socket in?

How long do you leave the packing for a dry socket in?
DR. ALEX :

Great question, let me help you.

DR. ALEX :

This packing is left in for 24-48 hrs on average

DR. ALEX :

Then the dentist normally replaces it with a new one until the socket heals

DR. ALEX :

if you had it in since Tues, I recommend you have it removed soon

DR. ALEX :

Since it is the weekend, you may not be able to see your dentist until monday, so you can do this on your own

DR. ALEX :

If you can see the gauze, gently secure it with tweezers and slowly pull it out. It should not be attached to anything, as it is just sitting in the socket. Then on monday, go back to the dentist for a new one, if your socket is still in pain

DR. ALEX :

Until then, keep your socket clean so no debris gets lodged inside it
