Shoplifting is obviously a misdemeanor. You should not plead guilty here. There are pretrial programs where you are on probation (usully for 1 year) pay court costs, and may have to take some classes, and at the end of probation the charges are dropped. And then you can expunge it from your record
You will want to hire a private criminal defense attorney, or if you cant afford one, then ask the court to appoint you a public defender. But you dont want to plead guilty here at all.
