Thank you. Sometimes taking an open plea is necessary. That happens when the prosecutor absolutely refuses to give you any offer at all and the judge will but only on his own terms.
In most cases, however, open pleas rarely get you what you most hope for.
I can't tell whether you were ill-advised or not. I don't have nearly enough information. But I wish you good luck on your appeal.
