Hello. My name is***** will be happy to answer your question.

I am sorry to hear about this unfortunate situation.

Unfortunately, similar situation can result in serious federal felony charges, so it is important to consult and retain an experienced local criminal defense attorney as soon as possible and not to discuss this case with anyone, but your local attorney and to let your local attorney communicate with any government or law enforcement authorities.

You can find an experienced and skilled local criminal law attorney by using this established and reputable attorney information / referral websites:

www.lexmundi.com

www.martindale.com

www.lawyers.com

www.legalmatch.com

When, choosing a local attorney to represent you, it would be a good idea to choose someone who has a practice exclusively dedicated to criminal law, has at least 10 years of experience and handled similar matters and also regularly practices before the court located in the jurisdiction where your matter will be heard.

I wish you the best of luck!

Theft by former attorneys? Theft by former attorneys? Ms.. I
Theft by former attorneys? Hello, Ms. Wilson. I am sorry for the truncated message. Fifteen months after I fired them, my former attorneys deposited to their firm's account 2 checks made out to me for me for close to $200,000 (part of my inheritance from my mother). They had call me to their office, I believed, to pick up these checks. When they asked me to sign the checks, I dumbly did so. They subtracted their legal fees from that amount. They gave me no receipt for the checks or determination of the amount they then returned to me, despite several requests. They also claimed that their escrow account earned no interest (granted, they "paid" me within a month or 2). I do have reasons to believe that the checks were deliberately sent to these 2 lawyers by the attorney for the executor--I doubt that he suddenly "forgot" who my then-current attorney of 15 months was. This happened around 2 1/2 years ago, but only recently did it dawn on me that this may constitute theft. If so, where/how would I file charges? … read more
