A landlord uses a criminal background check to see if the tenant has arrests or convictions. The reasons for this is to see if the tenant has had encounters with the police such that they would be having the police at the premises and disturbing other residents or if they are possibly involved in a criminal enterprise that they may run out of the property or that they may get arrested and breach the lease.
