This is a Petty Misdemeanor
Subd. 6.Violation; penalty for owner or lessee.
(a) If a motor vehicle is operated in violation of subdivision 1 or 1a, the owner of the vehicle, or for a leased motor vehicle the lessee of the vehicle, is guilty of a petty misdemeanor.

A Petty misdemeanor carries a fine of up to $300 and court costs.

There is no jail time.

However, I suggest that this is taken seriously enough that the judge needs to admonish you in person about how imperative it is to keep eyes on the road and focus on your driving
